Luge analysis with molibso dyneos<\/h3>\n

On September 18, 2020, the German Olympic luge squad members Robin Geueke and David Gamm<\/span><\/a> enjoyed a very special training preparation. The two Sauerlanders were able to follow the behavior of their sled in action on a molibso dyneos<\/span> in the most precise way. Organized by Professor Matthias Scherge (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and Head of Tribology at the Fraunhofer Institute IWM Freiburg), this is where top-class sport meets science: this is exactly what Team Snowstorm<\/span><\/a> embodies. Founded by Professor Scherge to support winter sports with the latest innovations from research, molibso<\/span> is also part of Team Snowstorm<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

As the ice arena<\/span><\/a> in Winterberg would not be iced over until mid-October, realistic conditions had to be simulated in advance with the help of a large wind machine. Wind speeds of up to 90 km\/h acted on the two lugers, who were lying on the pressure measuring plate in the ice channel together with their sledges. The pressure measuring plate of the molibso dyneos<\/span> was able to visualize every small shift in weight and show the two athletes how their sports vehicle behaves during use. The two exceptional athletes from BSC Winterberg<\/span><\/a> were thrilled: for the first time, they were able to see the shift in the center of gravity of their speedy sports equipment and determine exactly how the runners grip the ice during steering maneuvers. Prof. Scherge was also satisfied, as all measurements had exceeded expectations, which is why a follow-up test has been scheduled for next year in Langenfeld.<\/p>\n

With this knowledge, Robin Geueke and David Gamm<\/span><\/a> can precisely adjust the sled in their workshop at home in order to gain the important tenths of a second needed to qualify for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.<\/p>\n
